Day Five


Today has been OK (generally speaking).

It was nice to sleep and wake up in my own bed, if only for a night.  Barfed nothing again just as we were going to bed, but I felt better after that.

I spent the morning trying to do a bunch of things I wanted to get done before going back.  Like redoing Sonja's computer, and get the printer working on it.  Downloading some more TV shows since there is no TV in the room, and my internet is through my cell phone, so I can't go crazy on it.
 Not enough time for any of it, but did get to play some "superhero motorbikes" with AJ and Dexter in between it all.

Packed up my clean clothes, and things I had forgotten last trip.

Early morning on the Nov 1st, I am usually going out to the stores to score some ultra discounted candy (which if I was the one rationing it, would last us months) from Superstore, Walmart, etc.  Same for the day after Easter (that's the biggest one).

This year I was unable to attend, but big thanks go out to Erica who (with like mind) went around and scored some excellent loot for me !  Enough to probably last me well through the month or two of ick.  Thanks Erica !

Though this year, they fooled us by having the sales a day or two early. Bastards.

My numbers are dropping but good.  WBC 0.9, Neut. 0.8, Hemo 86, Plat 88
The symptoms are also starting - itchiness, lost of taste, etc.. I will probably be getting red cells Tuesday.

Only one more day of Chemo.  The worst is yet to come.

Me again- Erica.
You know what SUPER SUCKS??! My friend Deanne went to Stupid Store yesterday and all that candy was an EXTRA 50% off! So the big boxes were now $3.00 instead of $14 like when I was there!
I ran over and sadly came back empty handed. I'm going to go back tonight and throw a brick through their window for playing so many Hallween mindgames on me this year.
30% off October 30.. grumble grumble...

Someone's like me.

I was back in at the LBMT Thursday afternoon for blood work, hickman line flushing, and news. The good news is that there seems to be a very good chance that they have found a bone marrow match for me.  Dr. Bernard, who gave me the news, said a "95% chance" - mostly to give an out, as there are a lot of things that can go wrong still. I don't know how far along they are in the process with the donor but they are looking at starting the transplant in the next 2-3 weeks, early-mid October.  I will know more shortly after a yet to be scheduled meeting with Dr. Nevill. So, if you are one of the recent people who signed up for the registry, and have been magically called as a match, you might very well be my blood brother/sister so to speak - lol. The coming transplant scares the willies out of me as it will be the most intensive event I have been through in this whole thing, since the start over a year and a half ago.  Any grief, discomfort, etc.  I have been thoug

Thurdsay - My New Nemisis ?

Wow. Today was nasty. Tossed and turned most of the night, and then barfing in the morning. Nothing to come out, just there to taunt me, and let me know who's boss. Then there was the tightness of the chest, and some pain in my arm. Well, that started a flury of activity. ECG, blood work, etc. ECG looks good, there were some blood signed that the heart might have been in distress. They will be putting me on some drugs to help my heart mellow out just in case. It's all fine now, but they are being on the safe side. Tired. So very tired today. I slept most of the day, and I am only now getting into doing some stuff on the computer. Catching up with work, blog, etc. I don't have my totals for today, but the platelets and red blood cells mean I will probably be getting a transfusion tomorrow. I got to have a shower today - Yippie ! My last bag of the nasty "Red Koolaid" of death was today, so only the one Chemo drug left on tap. Still a potent brew at that, bu

2012

2012 I made it to another year ! Yay me! Another stellar delay before posting an update, but it has been a very busy time - work, Halloween, work, trip to the Island, work, Christmas, work, New Years, work. In my last update, I was off Prednisone, and now, I am off Cyclosporin. I am still on the Anti-Pneumonia, Anti-Viral, and blood pressure pills until the end of the month, and then I can stop all but the blood pressure pills. So far everything has been clear for GVHD, but my energy levels have been taking a pretty big hit. Next doctor visit is in March.
