Sooo, what's up ?

Saw Dr. N last week on Wednesday afternoon.  The appointment was for 4, and I got in about 5:30.  I was in at LBMT before that for bloodwork.  If everything goes well and I stay the course, that will be my last visit to the LBMT.  I am now going to the local clinic weekly for a full bloodworkup.

I am back in to see Dr. N on the 24th, and in to see the Neurologist on the 12th to see if they can figure out what is the deal with the pins & needles I continue to get in my hands and feet.  Sometimes it's pretty bad.

I am still on the same drug dosages from my last visit, so no movement there, but no further GVHD signs either.  Creatine was creeping up a bit last week, so they want me to make sure I drink more.

I've been forcing myself to do more physical activity.  I jumped up a few days ago to try and see something on a top shelf, and quickly realized how much the prednisone has messed up my upper leg muscles.  It's an up hill battle just to stay where I am physically.

Speaking of up hill, I finished making the first attempt of the scout staffs (hiking sticks) for the boys, so we can go on some hikes in the woods.  They are pretty basic right now as I am working of 25 year old memories.  We will be making some finishing touches and adding features as time goes on.  Sonja will probably have some pictures and details on her blog soon.  I will also be putting "how to" like stuff up on a new website I am working on.

Two summers now have been lost to Leukemia so I have a lot of catching up to do.

I am trying to keep my mind busy as well, and get back into the swing of things computer wise, so I can get back to work in the future.  If anyone knows a charity or non profit that needs some free computer work/assistance/advice/etc.  let me know.  Money is tight, and gas is stupid, so Fraser Valley area only for now.

Glad to see that you are getting back to your regular routine! Looking forward to seeing your mom this month. I enjoy looking at the photos of the boys--they look like you when you were young. Happy Mother's Day to Sonja! She is a great mom!!!! Take care, Elva

I was back in at the LBMT Thursday afternoon for blood work, hickman line flushing, and news. The good news is that there seems to be a very good chance that they have found a bone marrow match for me.  Dr. Bernard, who gave me the news, said a "95% chance" - mostly to give an out, as there are a lot of things that can go wrong still. I don't know how far along they are in the process with the donor but they are looking at starting the transplant in the next 2-3 weeks, early-mid October.  I will know more shortly after a yet to be scheduled meeting with Dr. Nevill. So, if you are one of the recent people who signed up for the registry, and have been magically called as a match, you might very well be my blood brother/sister so to speak - lol. The coming transplant scares the willies out of me as it will be the most intensive event I have been through in this whole thing, since the start over a year and a half ago.  Any grief, discomfort, etc.  I have been thoug

Thurdsay - My New Nemisis ?

Wow. Today was nasty. Tossed and turned most of the night, and then barfing in the morning. Nothing to come out, just there to taunt me, and let me know who's boss. Then there was the tightness of the chest, and some pain in my arm. Well, that started a flury of activity. ECG, blood work, etc. ECG looks good, there were some blood signed that the heart might have been in distress. They will be putting me on some drugs to help my heart mellow out just in case. It's all fine now, but they are being on the safe side. Tired. So very tired today. I slept most of the day, and I am only now getting into doing some stuff on the computer. Catching up with work, blog, etc. I don't have my totals for today, but the platelets and red blood cells mean I will probably be getting a transfusion tomorrow. I got to have a shower today - Yippie ! My last bag of the nasty "Red Koolaid" of death was today, so only the one Chemo drug left on tap. Still a potent brew at that, bu

2012

2012 I made it to another year ! Yay me! Another stellar delay before posting an update, but it has been a very busy time - work, Halloween, work, trip to the Island, work, Christmas, work, New Years, work. In my last update, I was off Prednisone, and now, I am off Cyclosporin. I am still on the Anti-Pneumonia, Anti-Viral, and blood pressure pills until the end of the month, and then I can stop all but the blood pressure pills. So far everything has been clear for GVHD, but my energy levels have been taking a pretty big hit. Next doctor visit is in March.
